The Australian Benchmarking Impact Market Sizing Survey is closing soon. Impact Investing Australia (IIA) needs your input to provide critical data and insights on the impact investing market, which will help drive growth and transparency in the sector.

IIA’s survey, developed in collaboration with the Centre for Social Impact at the University of NSW, is designed for investors, advisors and other stakeholders in the impact investing sector (whether you are already active in impact investing or are new to the sector).

Survey data will help shape the next Benchmarking Impact Report – a key resource that will provide essential data on impact investment flows, preferences and performance.

The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, with only one response required per organisation and all input greatly appreciated.

The survey is confidential, and the data will be aggregated and findings reported anonymously. The Benchmarking Impact survey has undergone a rigorous ethics approval process by UNSW. All data will be de-identified and securely stored by the university.

The deadline for submission is February 28, 2025.

Promoting transparency and consistency

The survey aims to collect anonymously data on the asset allocations and attitudes of Australian investors and advisers, and the performance of Australian impact investment products.

The key purpose of the report is to provide empirical data on the size and trends in impact investment flows, promoting transparency and consistency in the sector.

In 2016, IIA published the first Benchmarking Impact Report, offering a detailed analysis of the size, growth and performance of the Australian impact investing market by asset class, investment type, and impact area.

Between 2018 and 2020, sequential editions of the reports were published by the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA), that included additional data on the preferences, practices and intentions of Australian investors and advisers, both active and not yet active in impact investing.

Recent feedback from stakeholders has underscored the need for up-to-date data on impact transactions and their performance.

The absence of this data remains a key impediment to growing a more sophisticated impact investing market. In light of this, work has now commenced on a fourth edition of the report.

This latest edition will provide insight into key market-based data on the composition, growth, and performance of Australian impact investment products, along with the preferences, practices, and intentions of Australian investors and advisers, including those already active and those considering an entry into impact investing.
